The next round of Freelance Writer Bootcamp is on me (for one of you)

The next round of Freelance Writer Bootcamp is on me (for one of you)

Applications for the Yolisa Qunta Bootcamp scholarship are currently closed.

To apply for a paid spot in the next session, visit www.FreelanceWriterBootcamp.com.

The scholarship has been renamed in memory of Yolisa Qunta. Yolisa was a freelance writer, author, and Bootcamp alumni. For years after her initial enrollment, she stayed active in the Bootcamp alumni group, where we enjoyed her generosity, talent, advice, camaraderie, and humor. She was an excellent wordsmith and a writer friend. Yolisa passed away at the age of 41 in 2021. I asked her family’s permission to rename the scholarship in her honor and they agreed.

I’m offering a full scholarship for one person to attend the next round of Freelance Writer Bootcamp. That person could be you!

Yolisa Qunta Bootcamp Scholarship

In Freelance Writer Bootcamp, you’ll learn to write pitches that sell, break into your dream publications, and get paid well to cover stories that matter to you.

Step-by-step, you’ll discover how to find the best publications for you, what to include in a query that editors can’t say no to, and how to parlay a single assignment into an ongoing gig. I’ll be by your side supporting you the whole way, as will a bunch of fellow freelance writers from around the world.

Bootcampers have sold queries to local newspapers, national magazines, and international websites. New credits for writers I’ve worked with include the Guardian, the New York Times, Foreign Policy, Sawubona (South Africa Airways’ inflight), the Mail & Guardian, Shape.com, Parents.com, NationalGeographic.com, Al Jazeera, the Washington Post, Runners’ World, and many others. Bootcampers pitch just about every possible topic, including health, travel, and religion.

In Bootcamp, you’ll gain the know-how and confidence to:

+ Break into your dream publications and the next level in your writing career (wherever you are now).

+ Build your portfolio, enjoy bragging rights, and reach a wider audience.

+ Cultivate relationships to become an editor’s go-to freelancer.

+ Write stories that matter to you and your readers. Do meaningful work that engages your creativity and intellect.

+ Negotiate better rates and terms so that you get paid well while living the writer’s life.

+ Generate nonstop ideas and know where to pitch them so that you’re able to increase income and achieve financial independence.

+ Get enough freelance work to experience location and schedule independence, and work and live on your own terms.

The scholarship winner will receive access to all the materials and supportive learning opportunities in Freelance Writer Bootcamp for free, including:

+ 6 core modules. Custom videos, worksheets, cheat sheets, and swipe copy delivered weekly. Lifetime access to digital content, including any future updates.
+ Bonus modules. Videos and worksheets on topics that freelancers want and need to know about.
+ Live workshop calls. We put theory into action with discussions about the modules and live feedback on pitches in progress. Calls are recorded so you can watch later.
+ Private member forum. Get ongoing support, ask questions, share new ideas, find an accountability partner, and share your victories in a private, members-only Facebook Group.
+ Additional training. Weekly writing prompts, recommended readings, and other supplemental supports.

AND as an extra special bonus for the scholarship winner, +THREE private coaching calls. You and I will discuss your pitches-in-progress, as well as other freelancing/writing issues you are facing, in detail during our one-on-one sessions.

General (paid) registration for next session of Freelance Writer Bootcamp is by application at FreelanceWriterBootcamp.com. Please note that this is a separate process.
